TOTAL TIME 1 hour 55 minutes

Ingredients


/4 CUP SALT-FREE BUTTER

1 LB PASTRY SHEETS

1 LB WALNUTS

1/2 TEASPOON CINNAMON

1/2 TEASPOON OF ALLSPICE

1 TEASPOON OF NUTMEG

1/2 CUP SUGAR

1/2 TEASPOON FRESH ORANGE PEEL


CHOP NUTS ADD SPICES AND SUGAR

MELT BUTTER






BRUSH BOTTOM OF 9X 12 LOAF PAN WITH BUTTER

PLACE A TOTAL OF 8 OR MORE PASTRY SHEETS ... BUTTER EACH SHEET

ADD SOME OF THE NUT MIXTURE

REPEAT AS IF YOU'RE MAKING LASAGNA

MAKE SURE THE TOP SHEET IS BUTTERED

CUT BAKLAVA IN A DIAMOND PATTERN TO BAKE

BAKE AT 350 FOR 10 MINUTES THEN LOWER TO 300 AND CONTINUE BAKING FOR 1 HOUR OR UNTIL THE TOP IS GOLDEN BROWN


PREPARE SYRUP 30 MINUTES PRIOR BEFORE BAKING IS DONE

3 CUPS OF SUGAR

2 CUPS OF WATER

BRING TO A BOIL

SIMMER FOR 25 MINUTES OR SO

ADD 1 TEASPOON OF LEMON JUICE

ADD 2 TABLESPOONS OF HONEY


REMOVE BAKLAVA FROM THE OVEN AND IMMEDIATELY POUR HOT SYRUP ON BLAKAVA

FULLY COOL AND THEN COVER AND LEAVE OVERNIGHT BEFORE SERVING
